A Florida judge overturned the amendment banning gays from adopting. Knew it would happen but I'm pleased it happened so quickly.Post an Entry

An early Xmas gift for atheists: Roger Ebert reviews Ben Stein's anti-evolution movie, "Expelled". I saw this movie in the theater and it was horrendous. It actually blamed evolution for the Holocaust. this was especially egregious considering Stein is a Jew and he actually filmed a part of the movie *in a concentration camp*!! Apparantly, Ben Stein gave away his shame as well as his money.

Finally, I watched the new Fox show, "Secret Millionaire" and was surprisingly touched. I actually misted up during the show. The premise is that some really really rich people will leave their homes, go live in a poor area of a city on welfare wages for a week and meet regular people. Then the rich guy (or gal) decides to give up to $100,000 of their own money to the person of their choice.

What is extraordinary about this show is that it highlights, not only the horrible conditions of the most vulnerable Americans, but the social stereotypes that rich people have about the poor. In the first episode the rich guy realized that all the poor ppl he met were kind and gave what little they have to the even less fortunate while the people in his own neighborhood were cold bitches. He then gave $250,000 to three people who had helped him when he was living hand to mouth.
